Why doesnt SBS offer subtitles on foreign news broadcasts?

because when I flew to Japan on JAL, they showed the Japanese news and there was an American translator that must have worked for the news netowrk so us aussies on the plane could hear it in english.

even if SBS did that, or just subtitles.

dont you just want to know what they are saying sometimes??

why wouldnt SBS do that??

  1. I suspect the cost would be prohibitive: in case you hadn't noticed, our public broadcasters have been starved of funds for a decade...


  2. If you hear before international programs start, they have a disclaiming announcement that SBS does not endorse the contents on the program.

    Oops, because when I read the guide on my phone, it says it is. Probably mistaken it for another news. Very sorry!
