  1. Cats get tapeworms from fleas. If your cat swallows fleas when they bite her, she is getting reinfected. Get a flea preventative like Advantage and use that when you treat the cat for worms.

  2. Try changing the cat food to a dry cat food .. it may help.

Your vet must not be treating her for the correct type of worms.

Try a search on the internet... I'm at a loss as well.

  3. Perhaps your vet hasn't cultured her stool lately. It could be a  different  kind of parasite.  Go to http://maxshouse.com/Parasites_Internal....

to see if you recognize  any of the signs.

Do you clean and wash the litter pans regularly?  Have you ever seen her eating stool? Since she grooms, the eggs on her fur will be ingested, starting the cycle all over again. Try bathing her or at least washing  her bum every day. Is there a local shelter or RSPCA you can contact for help?  She might be resistant to the medication.  Then again, your vet could be incompetent.  I question why your cats need to be wormed so often if they are indoor cats.  Do you feed them a raw diet?

  4. What is he worming her with?  Those are tapeworms, and the only wormer on the market that will kill them is Drontal.  It may be that she is reinfesting herself - have you bleached the litterboxes, and any areas where the egg casings or worms may have fallen off?  I would suggest flea treating them all as well.  That's how tapeworm starts, usually, from the bite of an infected flea.  It doesn't matter if they never go out, or how clean your home is - we can bring fleas in with us on our shoes or our clothing, and there you are - tapeworm!

It has nothing to do with food, so don't let that be of a concern to you.

  5. they now have a dewormer that you put on the back of the cat's neck between the shoulders  (like you would with flea treatment), it's a topical treatment and sinks into their skin.

you should ask your vet about it, my vet just started using it a few months ago.  it's called "profender", maybe it will work better.  you have to buy it from a vet.

your cat definitely still has tapeworm.  have you treated her and your house for fleas?  because that's where it comes from.

edit: you can have the cleanest house on the block, fleas can come from ANYWHERE!  you could have brought them in from outside or someone else could have brought them in, they live outside and if they just hop on you or something for a ride in your house, they will reproduce and lay THOUSANDS of eggs and infest your house.  or they could come in through a window, whatever, they are disgusting little things that find their way to animals no matter what.  you have to use a flea treatment on the cats every month all year round ad you have to treat your house.  believe me, i have been through this!

  6. SOUNDS LIKE THE VET IS NOT TREATING HIM WITH THE PROPER  WORM  MEDICINE.....TAKIKE HI TO YOUR   HUMAN  SOCIETY IN YOU AREA ...CALL AND MAKE APPOINTMENT  AND TELL THEM WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS THEY WILL HELP YOU   .....LET THY VET GIVE HER THE PROPER MED.......TAKE A STOOL SAMPLE WITH YOU AND THEY CAN CHECK IT  AND EILL FIND OUT WHAT TYPE THE WORM IS AND WILL GIVE HER THE ROGHT  MED FOR THAT TYPE OF WORM........HAS SHE EVER HAD HER STOOL SAMPLES CHECKED....SHE MUST  IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT  KIND FOR THE TREATMENT            PET SHOPS MAY NOT HAVE THE PROPER  TREATMENT.........YOU MUST HAVE  THE VET DO IT........... NEVER HEARD OF SUCH     A TIME WITH WORMS.. THEY HAVE  A PILL AND GIVE THEM  USUALLY ONLY ONE TIME SHOT......UNLESS IT IS A PARISIT..LIKE  GIARIDA  AR A TAPE WORM..SOUNDS LIKE YOUR VET  IS NOT DOING  HIS JOB..........TAKE A FRESH  STOOL SAMPLE WITH YOU TO THE VET AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT WHILE YOU WAIT..YOU WILL  NOT BE CHARGED A OFFICE CALL...LEAVE YOUR KITTY AT  HOME AND INSIST A STOOL CHECK AT THE VETS.........  YOUR OTHER CATS WILL BE EXPOSED TO IT  AND WILL SPREAD BACK AND FORTH  ..........SO GET THE STOOL SAMPLE CHECKED (fresh) less than 24 hr...and if he knows what hes doing the vet will find out right away..........GOOD LUCK...HOPE THIS IS SOME HELP TO YOU  AND  GOD BLESS......

  7. Scrap the cat and buy a new one its cheaper.

  8. You might want to try mincing a clove of garlic in her food every day. It's supposed to kill some intestinal worms as well as prevent reinfection. In any case, it's worth a try. Also get the vet to check her stool, so they know exactly what kind of worms she has.

    Good luck!

  9. Your cat has tape worms.  All worms are not alike,.  They are transmitted differently and it takes different medications to treat them.

The moving grains of rice you are seeing are segments of the adult tape worms.  These segments carry eggs that are eaten by FLEA larvae.   The flea larva then become adult fleas and the tapeworm eggs inside the flea become the stage that can infect the cat when the CAT SWALLOWS A FLEA.  Cats tend to swallow a lot of fur and fleas when grooming, so this is how they get the tapeworms.  If this is the common type of tapeworm of cats and dogs, Dipylidium caninum, this is the only way the cat can get the worm.  If your cat has ever eaten a wild rabbit, it could get another species of tapeworm called Taenia pisiformis, but this is much less common.

You can't get rid of the tapeworms unless you eliminate the fleas.  First do that, then tackle the tapeworms with a Drontal or Droncit tablet or injection.  I suggest the injection because then there is no doubt your cat got the medication.  It only needs it once, then it's free of tapeworms until it swallows a flea and the whole cycle starts again.

If your cat appears to have always had tapeworms, it might be because it has more fleas or it grooms more than your other cats so it reinfects itself.  Your vet should have discussed all this with you instead of just treating the cat over and over.

If it's any consolation, D. caninus does not really harm the cat.  They are gross, but they don't make the cat sick and they don't use enough of the cat's resources to cause problems like some other types of worms do.

  10. Well pet shop treatments don't work I can promise you that so don't even bother.

What do you mean exactly by they're on her fur right now? This is not normally where you see worms! Do you mean tapeworm segments? I think you need to show a vet exactly what's on your cat's fur! Do they look like rice segments? These are tapeworms and they're the only worms you might see on an animal's fur. Otherwise it's fleas or mites or lice or dandruff or flea dirts you're seeing!!
