  1. Because this is not philippines yahoo.  This is Yahoo Answers in the category of Travel>Asia>Philippines

  2. it violates the community guidelines...

  3. because alot of foreigners cannot somewhat understand us.. [:

  4. Becasue this is Yahoo "English" international version.  It is the "Travel / Asia Pacific / Philippines" to be exact.  There is no Yahoo Philippines

  5. Yes, that's me!!!!! Bakit? meaning why? I you want to learn, just let me know :)

Have a nice day and GOD BLESS!!!!!

  6. coz its not allowed.  also we like answers from everyone (filipinos, americans, all nationalities) so english must be used.

  7. I don't know means Ewan ko!!!

  8. Read the Community Guidelines of Yahoo Answers.  Click on the link located at the bottom most portion of the website.  Yahoo requires all questions and answers in English.

  9. I think maybe because you're required to talk English?

  10. Because it is more troublesome to type Tagalog than in English. Also there is no Tagalog spellchecker.  Tagalog vocabulary is limited and most terms are derived from foreign terminology, street slang and even g*y Lingo.

  11. as much as we wanted to but if you do,your questions or answers would be deleted by yahoo. it's on the guidelines.

  12.   EWAN  ko

  13. check your grammar first...

  14. It's a violation of the TOS.

  15. I think because English is the universal language..your questions and answers are read by people around the world..so if we use tagalog..how could they understand it?!..That's what I think of...

  16. coz yahoo says english only.  i was answering in tagalog when i was new and got many violation notices.

  17. The rules is the rules, and the rules say English only.

Probably so the Yahoos can evaluate if an answer is within guidelines or not. You can't expect them to understand Tagalog or Mongolian for that matter.

  18. I don't get it either. If it's under the terms and conditions, when I click on an asian country like Japan, it shows up in Japanese characters. When I click on Mexico it's in spanish. Doesn't make sense to me. Some countries even have a totally different layout than some. I wish I could see more tagalog though.

  19. filipinos are not the only viewers in this site, there are also people from different countries.english is an international language and we assume that almost everybody who goes to this site should understand english, and therefore, understand what we're trying to say.it's for the benefit of everybody actually.sometimes when i read questions written in other languages aside from english and tagalog,i wonder what they are asking about.could be the same thing for us.more people will be able to help us in answering our questions if they only understand what we're trying to say,or ask.good for us filipinos because english is our second language. =)

  20. I don't know but I can only guess that since ph.yahoo.answer.com is in English, it follows that everyone asks questions in English. If you check Yahoo Answers Thailand, Germany, Spain, France, etc., their main Yahoo Answers page is written in their own language so does the questions and answers.

I can answer in Tagalog but the spell checker (located at the right of this text box) says "Oops! It looks like you have 56 misspelling(s)"

  21. English is our official language too.

Since Yahoo is International and the questions can be reference to other nations in the future, it is preffered to write in English.

For example you who is an American wants to know about the place "Bohol" in the Philippines, you will search for questions about "Bohol" and it will not help you if you find results with questions and answers in Tagalog. Babel fish online doesn't even translate Tagalog words.

Maybe that is why Y Philippines doesn't require questions and answers to be in Tagalog compared to other Y country categories. Yahoo Philippine page was even written in English and not Tagalog unlike other pages (ex. Mexico, Japan, Korea etc.) was translated to their native language.

  22. because english is the proper language for yahoo answers even for the philippine category...i think it's a violation of TOS...one time i answered a tagalog question with tagalog answer and i got reported and the reason is "not in correct language"

  23. Proably because this is an English site about travel to/in the Philippines. Most asking related questions here would understand English and not Tagalog

Yahoo states in its TOC "Misusing Answers. Don't create multiple accounts to troll or otherwise violate these guidelines or the Yahoo!7 Terms of Service. Don't post things that are incomprehensible or in the wrong language."

I presume that it is ok to post an answer in Tagalog as long as you give the English translation. It is ok to ask for an English/Tagalog translation but it must be in the format that was described by Kahlan.

I am not sure if this would work for posting a question.

  24. i tried answering and asking questions in tagalog.

    but guess what?

every time i do that, i get reported.

and yeah. this is actually a travel section.

you know, foreigners who wants to explore the Phil visits here.

so then, if we keep typing in tagalog (our language),

    they'll not understand.

  25. Because it is against the guidelines.

As per Yahoo Answers' guidelines, "Yahoo! Answers is available in many countries and languages, so find the right one for your location or language."

Also, this is not an exclusively Filipino forum (as there are users from other countries).  English is thus the mode of communication so people will clearly understand each other and to not exclude those that do not speak the Filipino language.

But this doesn't mean that one can not post in Filipino.  If the asker is asking about what is shy (usage: adjective) in Filipino, the answerer is of course required to give a Filipino translation of the word.  The best way to do this is to say,

    Shy in Filipino is "mahiyain."

This tip is from one Yahoo staff himself.  Enclose the Filipino word or phrase in "     " so as to not get a violation.
