  1. All food and drink stuff by law requires an expiry date. Even mineral water, which has trickled down the mountains over millions of years, has an expiry. It isn't so much a problem with the product going off, but more a problem with the packaging itself effecting the product it contains. Over long periods for example, plasticisers from the container can leech into the product. This is why products are stability tested in a laboratory to make sure the container doesn't break down and effect the product within.
