  1. Because the maple leaf takes up all the room. They'd like it on there but there's just no space.

  2. it used to.. and then, sought its own identity through the 50s and 60s... in 1965, Canada adopted the maple leaf.

  3. Despite what you have been told above, the correct name for the British flag is the Union Jack.  The name Union Jack has been in use for centuries and has been recognised in Parliament.  A few years ago people insisted on calling it the union flag in an early example of political correctness, because there are flags called jacks which are flown on jackstaffs.  The name Union Jack was in use before jacks existed, and in any case jacks cannot stop a flag being called by its name.  My father's brother was called Jack, and he had never been flown from a jackstaff either.

  4. The Union Jack was on earlier flags, until the current flag was adopted in February, 1967, and debuted at the 1968 Olympics. Canada and Australia are Commonwealth nations.

  5. Canada used the Red ensign that did have the union jack on till !5 February1965 it then used the one that it uses to day. it Was decided by the Pearson Liberal Government in  1960 that Canada should have its own flag and that the maple leaf be used as it went back to the 1700.

  6. It used to, but changed it a few years ago.

  7. it was mostly french territory?

  8. There is talk of removing from the Australian flag

  9. I think you mean the union flag, not the union jack.
