Why doesnt my gas scooter start???

when the back wheel is on the ground but when i pick the back wheel up it starts..when i pull it up and not usin the trottle the wheel still spins!

  1. Check the air filter and all the vacuum lines to make sure they are tight.  You may also try cleaning the carb if that doesnt work.


  2. do you have a clean air filter?

  3. several things may be wrong check air filter choke may be stuck    throttle cable may be sticking  transmission clutch may be sticking

  4. Is it a new scooter or an older one?  

    Automatic trans or standard shift transmission

    A lot depends on these factors - plus what others have said -

    clogged fuel filters -

    No gas in tank

    Old gas in tank - when was the last time the scooter was used?  If it was months ago, there may be water in the fuel lines

    If uses a clutch - may be no oil in the fuel mix - check the lines -

    In other words, the best thing you can do is -

    get out your Scooter's Instruction Book and read it - it should give you all the answers you need.

    If you don't have the book - go to the manufacturer's website and check for the model and see if you can call up a booklet.
