Why doesnt my mum like me using tampons?

My mum has told me before not to use them. She found some in my draw and went MENTAL, and said she wanted to take me to the doctors.. WHYYYY?

It depends on what kind of person your mother is. Is she a more conservative-type? Then she may be bothered by the fact that you're touching yourself down there, and that you've probably broken your hymen, which means physically you're "no longer a virgin".

Or, she may be worried about you getting Toxic Shock Syndrome, which is a rare (but can be fatal) syndrome in which you leave the tampon in for too long and you get an infection in your v****a that has (on very very very rare occasion) lead to death. It's REALLY rare and I think you'd have to leave the tampon in for like 24 hours or some ridiculous amount of time, but it has happened.

You should ask your mom what her reason is, and then tell her why *you* like using tampons and ask her that she respect your decision. Be calm, be mature. I'm sure, working as adults, you two will come to an acceptable compromise.

Ask her. She might think they equate to something sexual, or she might have had a traumatic experience, or she might have gotten or known someone who's gotten TSS. We don't know your mother, and the only way you can find out is by sitting down with her and talking to her about it.

She's probably afraid that after you use tampons, you'll start to have s*x or m********e or something. Once you're comfortable going down there, your mom might think it says something about you. Explain to her calmly and rationally why you want to use them, that they're safe, not hurting you in any way, and it doesn't change anything. They're just less messy than pads and more portable :)

My mom was the same way. She always said absolutely not when it came to tampons. Her only explanation was that I could poke one of my ovaries, or that when i sat down it would get lost up there. Mom's are funny. So i did it anyway, and haven't turned back since. If you use them the right way, and pick the right absorbancey for your flow, you are ok. And its no where near as messy as pads are. My mom eventually got over it, and even started buying me the big box at Costco :)

my mom neverrrr let me use them.  she's always afraid i'm going to get toxic shock syndrome.  that's probably why your mom freaked.  i just showed my mom how i can wear them with no problem and she like totally forgot about it.  hope i helped :]

You probably should let her take you to the doctor so the doctor can talk some sense into her. If the doctor tells her she doesn't need to worry so much, she'll probably listen to them more than you telling her not to worry.

I'm not sure why she would go mental.

You just have to make sure you read the little packet inside of the tampon box to make sure you use them properly.
