Why doesnt my ps3 hook right to my ps3

Question

I have recently gotten a ps3 and the hook up is all wrong . I have a mitsubishi 1080 series tv and they look very fat(visual image)<for help>. i use the wire that comes with my ps3 and it doesnt look HD. I've heard of hdmi but my tv didnt' say anything about that in the manual. they did mention component cables. dont know wat that is. do i need component cables. and if so on my ps3 how do change the settings to give it the hd.

well the ps3 comes with component cable which is white, red, n yellow. plug the 3 color to the tv n the end of the 3 color wire to the ps3 or read the manual

The cables that come with the PS3 are for standard def. If you want HD, you have to buy cords to do so.

IF your Tv has HDMI port then buy the HDMI cable

If not buy component cable ( Instead of White, yellow, red  is green, blue, red, white and red again )

The cable you got is Av

To change the settings go to PS3 Settings&gt;Display&gt; Automatic

Your playstation comes with the component cables, they&#039;re the basic three-wire hook up (red, white, yellow), the hdmi is a single cord and delivers hi-def picture (does NOT come with your ps3), go buy it, you won&#039;t have true hi-def until you do, price ranges anywhere from 10-40 $&#039;s.
