Why doesn't the Motorola V3

Why doesn't the Motorola V3 not hold a charge very long? I have shut down everything I can think of, I have changed batteries, but if I talk on the phone for 10 or 15 minutes it has to be charged. Sometimes I have to charge it 3 times a day
