To make it so things dont seem as though they cost so much. and so that we can make use of our coins being as they are worth more and last longer than paper money. We were able to buy goods for under a dollar only 20 years ago, this is not possible now.

  1. I think in order to re valuate our currency, we need something to back it up and since our national debit is so high it makes the money have less value , coin or paper. we have something like a 9 trillion debt, more than you, i or even out great grandchildren will ever be able to repay and to think just a few presidents ago it was almost paid off. Whew!!

  2. Well, we have been so dependent with foreign goods and services so that it keeps our balance in inconsitancy.

  3. Well that would be a major overhaul of the system, which would require a lot of investment.

Also, when you take zeros away from currency, (like what Mexico did with the peso once), when for example $1,000 becomes 10$, prices get rounded to the nearest whole unit making things worth more.

Also, since many of the world's currencies are tethered to the dollar, it would be difficult to just change its value.

But of course it's possible if we start having hyperinflation or something, but right now there is no point to it.

    hope that helps.
