Why doesn`t the government have their own casinos instead of taking half of what someone wins?

I think it`s a much better idea. I mean they would make a killing with a few casinos in NYC alone.

  1. Government does have casinos, we just call it income tax


  2. Ah, there's a good idea, government run casinos, that way it will be even more difficult for people to win, they'll keep 80% of the winnings, and spend more on gambling addiction help. Politicians could then siphon off money for themselves (not that they don't already). And just like everything else government does they run terribly inefficient. They pay about $400 per deck of cards. Then of course when a casino is failing, we'll steal from the taxpayers to bail them out. And we'll be able to use tax money to build new ones. The staff would be underpaid. And the ones that don't work could not be fired. Plus the government could borrow from the casino revenue to fund something else. Awesome.

  3. the house take at a casino is much higher than half...  so, the tax situation might not be so bad, after all...

  4. they do, it's called lotteries.
