I went on the nintendo channel and I searched for RPG games and only about 6 came up out of which only 3 looked interesting.

But I am wondering why nintendo doesnt make RPG games for their home consoles. They probably have at least 50 RPGs for game boy advance and DS but I havent seen to many for wii. Does anyone know why? the reason I am asking is that I am an avid RPG fan.

  1. because nintendo doesn't make many RPG's and big rpg developer's like square enix wont invest there time and money into making RPG's for nintendo when they know they wont sell well on a system dominated with casual gamers. i hate to say it but it's true.

  2. Oh god.

    Are you kidding me?

Let's clear the air, you are NOT an avid RPG fan.

If you were, you'd realize YS and Super Mario RPG have been released on the Virtual Console the past two weeks.

So we've just gotten two of the best RPG's ever made.

Add those to the retail RPG's we have, and we have plenty.

You just ignore, or don't know ANYTHING about RPG's.

You should be too busy with YS Book and Super Mario RPG to even ask this question, but that's if you were an avid RPG fan...

  3. The RPG genre is one that prosper on the PC and the handhelds. That is the main reason there is such a small amount.

  4. Because the only RPG games nintendo makes are Fire Emblem, Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi, and Pokemon. All of which have been released.

But there are about 20 RPG's on the virtual console such as Paper Mario (N64) Super Mario RPG (SNES) Shining Force (genesis)

  5. Many of the RPGs you play on the GBA and DS aren't developed by Nintendo; most of them are probably developed by Square-Enix and Atlus. Nintendo can't exactly force them to make console RPGs.

Capcom and Alpha Dream are still third-party developers, so the point is still valid...they seem to think that the DS is a better market for that type of game. I don't think the Wii's supposed "casual gamer" label is applicable in this situation; there are far more casual gamers who own a DS than a Wii.

Besides, the Wii isn't even two years old yet. It takes time to make a good RPG. I don't recall seeing any good RPGs for the GC until it was about two or three years old.
