But movies certainly do rouse political movements, esp some recent dicumentaries. Regardless of one's opinion on Michael Moore, ever since his film SiCKO came out the rhetoric in this country on Health Care reform has moved decidely to the left.

Books were the only means of stirring popular discontent one hundred years ago but now the masses have infinite resources available to them and mini-revolutions in their own right have caught aflame and spread like wildfire. Has the world already forgotten the youtube-based Ron Paul Revolution (?) haha

Its already a revolution. I think you meant the other way round. well slowly it will change. Still there is illteracy.
