Some say it's because international players have better chance of getting a gold medal over an NBA title. Ginobli won 3 NBA titles yet nothing means more to him than a gold medal because he plays for his country. For people back in LA were upset a Kobe because he said that a gold medal would mean more to him than his 3 NBA title, ridicuous. There is nothing like a gold medal, nothing?

  1. The Olympics are the most prestigious sporting event in the world, and the top prize is a gold medal.  It should be the most important achievement of any basketball player if he or she makes the national team of any country.

  2. Because 99% of them will never have a chance to win an NBA title, much less a Gold.  The NBA has the most talent and will win the Gold for a long time as long as they play as a team. The best players in the world, as a majority, come from the USA.

  3. a trophy and a ring is better than a gold metal it is a better feeling

  4. if they don't care about winning the NBA championship then they should get the h**l out of the nba and go play international ball

  5. international players do tend to think of the gold higher, but in usa, for basketball, gold is not their ultimate dream.  to play in the best league in the world and to be win the championship in the best league is what they dream about.  sure getting a gold is something they want, reason why those other players in the nba won one before and stopped playing, since they have one already.  bet you if kobe didnt have any rings, he would want that ring more so than the gold.  its easier to say the gold is what they want more when you already have plenty of rings.
