Why don't Austrailian football players try out for American football?

I see these guys running around playing football in short sleeves and shorts and I'm asking myself; if these guys are tough enough to play their brand of ball why can't they play in the N.F.L.?

  1. Derren Bennett was from Austraila who was a punter for the Chargers and Vikings for ten seasons.  He made the Pro Bowl twice in 1995 and again in 2000.

Its a totally different sport and you need different skills....American Football is very position specific...i.e. an offensive lineman could never play austrailian footbal and vice versa on the line...offensive or defensive....I will say there may be some that would be good receivers or corner backs because of there size and speed
