Why don't Chinese restaurants hire english-speaking front desk clerks to answer the phone?

order out for Chinese.:-) Mmmm........A little pepper steak perhaps. Maybe a bit of wonton soup and some hot egg rolls? Sounds nice, doesn't it? Then you make the call.

Hello, is this Uncle Wang's? You hear a faint voice answer the phone.........yes! Great then! I'd like to place an order. Then it starts up. "Solly, I no understand....my Engrish vely poor.

Of course, I know they can't help it. And I'm not trying to be mean. After all, my mother is Asian. But why in God's name can't they hire someone who speaks ENGLISH? I mean, this is America, isn't it? I had a lady answer the phone today whose English was so poor, I gave up trying after about 10 seconds. What's the deal here? Can they just not afford to hire someone you can understand?

Maybe they have some illegal employees working there. And they do not want to get into trouble. That's why they only get their family in.

learn chinese

speak more slowly and spend lots more time

stop eating chinese food

find a restaurant where the staff speak more english

I have a friend that owns a chinese restraunt, and she admitted, that most asians are too cheap to get any one that is out side of the family, because then they have to pay less,

At the chiense restraunt I go to, the person at the front desk speaks english.
