Why don't Chinese with American passports do not support Team USA in Olympic?

I'm looking at our company's web posting for greetings for Olympic. There are thousands of messages and lots of them from the Chinese living in USA. All of them have wished success of the games, which is good.

But, NONE of them hoped for gold medals for USA! Why? Why while carrying our passport in their pockets, they can't even wish good for our Country?

  1. My mother married my father who was resident in a neighboring town which was a fierce rival (athletically) of my father's town.  After the wedding she moved there to live.

Does that mean she always has to root for my father's town's teams against her own?

The analogy fits pretty well, doesn't it?

  2. Becuse the entire world blames all their problems on the American middle class and has dobed us as the enemy.

Deport illegals, and keep the dream alive.

  3. Honestly.  Who cares.

  4. ok, I am Chinese(Taiwanese) and from what I know about Chinese people(especially those who didn't grow up here),  most of them don't have much loyalty for the U.S even though they are citizens. And it's mainly because of  the differences between the two cultures.  Many of the Chinese people that I know don't really care that much about anything that most Americans care about.  Don't forget, especially for those from China, there's this deep rooted distrust and disdain for the Western culture( result of the Communist reign) even though lots of Chinese love all the goodies that came from the West.

  5. i guess they naturally want to support where their roots are

  6. Because people have freedom to chose whatever team they want.  That has nothing to do with immigration, that is their personal preference. Just because SOME people don't like immigrants that doesn't means that those people can even control the thinking, tastes and dislikes of immigrants.

  7. Because our goal is to come here, take your money and send it back to china duh.

What do you think the mexicans are doing this whole time?

  8. Your question is unintelligible.

  9. I don't know.

But since an individual's choice to support any team or nation in any sporting event is not an immigration issue, it doesn't matter on this section of Yahoo Answers.

  10. For the same reason Americans with Chinese passports (or any country for that matter) don't support that country's Olympic team and choose to root for Team USA instead. You generally root for your country of origin, regardless of where you are living or what your citizenship status currently is. Unless your a sellout or left your country for political reasons....ie. if your from Iraq and the government there killed your whole family, you probably aren't going to cheer for Team Iraq in the Olympics :)
