Question:

Why don't Democratic Congressmen accept e-mail from non-constituents?

I have tried e-mailing several of them on congress.org, and it tells me they don't accept messages from non-constituents. I don't seem to have this problem with Republicans. This may explain why they are so clueless on the feelings of the American people all the time.

  1. Well, it seems you've told a fib, my boy, because I find that no Republican Congressperson will accept e-mails from non-constituents either.  Why'd you lie?

  2. Try emailing a Republican -- same problem.

I don't agree with it, but it is what it is.   Essentially Congress is elected on the local level.  They are only really representing their district.  This is why they only address issues on this level.

  3. They do . . . go to the individual web sites.

  4. I think it's a bad practice, no matter who does it.

  5. Why do people on YA fudge the truth to suit their political agenda?

  6. Because they get enough hatemail from their constituents....they don't need any more!!!

  7. Just make something up and ask a question about it.

  8. Its the same on both sides The republicans do the same thing get a grip.

  9. In Iowa, our two senators have weekly (or maybe it's monthly) call-in shows.  The Democrat, Harkin, always has pre-arranged callers, and anyone who disagrees with him can't ever get through.  The Republican, Grassley, accepts calls with minimal screening, and often has to say "I don't know, I'll look into it".  I think Grassley's show is more fair, even though it sometimes makes him look like a boob.

  10. Republicans accept hands under the bathroom stall

  11. Because after the Bush years the republicans need all the help and mindless friends they can find.  Whereas the democrats actually focus their attention on representing their constituents.

  12. Some Republicans do the same thing. They represent their district so they don't have to take messages from people out of their district. Write YOUR representative. They are the ones to represent you and let them take it from there.

  13. I think the problem might be with the particular route you have chosen. Their individual web presences seem more receptive to non-constituent communication.

Naturally, whichever you use, the likelihood it will actually be seen by the Congressman in person is virtually nil.

  14. First things first.

Are you of voting age ?

    No ?

    Well there is your answer.
