Question:

Why don't I get a refund for the taxes I have paid to fund schools if I never had any kids?

Yet, people with WAY too many kids pay LESS per capita? They have more than one kid and pay the same taxes AND get a REBATE for every kid? It makes NO SENSE. Single people and married people with no children are unfairly taxed! We should be amazed that public schools are able to educate as well as they do with the limited resources they get considering the overpopulation of this country. MOST of the funds go to special education because it seems those on the lower end of the gene pool keep having more kids than they can handle.

  1. Same reason you pay social security.

  2. Lets see, lets not educate the kids since we dont have any ourselves. It doesnt bother me if the next governor or president cant spell, they arent my kid.

  3. For the same reason I don't get a refund on the taxes I pay to maintain roads I don't drive on.

  4. That really should not be a concern of yours.  The real problem is corruption and dishonest use of funds.  In Iraq there are so many contracts that have been paid but no work done that its ridiculus.  And those contracts add up to billions....but its part of the corruption in our government.

Then when you think about all "pork" in many of the bills our congress passed and all the un-needed government sponsoring of certain industries you will begin to see that those in power are just helping themselves and their friends get rich.

    hammers for $1500 each

ash trays for $900 each.....geez...thats were the real waste is.

  5. Educating everybody's children is a public burden and has been since the Pilgrims landed.  Live with it.

  6. Because that's how the laws are written.  Talk to your state legislators

  7. As capitalists, even if you don't have children of your own, you will be hiring someone else's children to work for you and it's in the public interest to have an educated work force. (Even if you don't see yourself as an employer, if you ever collect a social security retirement check you are benefiting from someone else having a job.)

If the cost of education was borne solely by the people having the children, it wouldn't happen.  Some of the middle class and rich people would reduce the number of children they had to the number they could afford, but the rest would simply not send their children to school.  No matter your opinion of the quality of the actual education, a public school system is a laudable goal of any country that has one.

Where I go nuts is when someone wants to send their child to a private school (or homeschools) and expects a refund of their property taxes since they are paying "twice."
