Question:

Why don't I have admin?

I'm running Windows Vista..Home edition I guess? (It's a brand new laptop..was a gift.) Anyways, I'm trying to play a game online, but it requires me to click a link inside of the game to run a patch. However, when I click it I get the error that I do not have proper admin. I can't right click it because it's in game, so don't tell me to click run as admin because it's not an option.

I'm the only person who uses this laptop, therefor the only account.

Thanks!

  1. In Vista, they have something called User Account Control, so that you're not really running as admin all the time.  When you run an admin function, a window pops up asking if you really want to perform that action.  If you're in an application, that's not always feasible.  Go into the user accounts in the control panel and disable the User Account Control.  You can turn it back on when you're done if you want.
