Why don't Joe Lieberman just become a Republican?

Why do you have to be liberal to be a Democrat? The DNC failed to endorse him in his last election, even though he is one of the most intelligent members of the senate. Why did they do that?

That would be better english, Joe is entitled to his opinion and I thought he spoke from the heart because he knows McCain as well as anyone and I do not think for a moment that Joe is being disingenuous with his respect for McCain's patriotism and maverick style or patriotism.

He votes with Democrats almost 95 percent of the time. The only major issue that he agrees with the Republicans on is the Iraq War.

Prove me wrong: name one other issue that Lieberman upholds GOP orthodoxy on.

Because he is like me.  I am an Independent which means I vote on issues and not based on party.   Example I would never vote for Obama just because he was a democrat. I wouldn't vote for MCCain just because he is republican.  I vote for who will do best,  in my humble opinion, for the country.    Now my mom is different.  Mickey Mouse could be running for the oval office and she would vote for him just because he  was a republican or more importantly because he wasn't a democrat.
