  1. I think a lot of fans would be very upset about that which would lower the money they make because their ratings would go down, and the amount of money you would get for that advertising would be very small, so if they did it they may actually loose money.

  2. Who knows?  Maybe it's because there are ads EVERYWHERE in the arena already (on the ice, boards, brochures, tickets, cups, etc...)  Plus goalies get to design thier own helmets, which is bad ***!!  Why would you want that to change?

  3. The teams leave there own logo and such, on the helmets. If they added anything else it would take away from there own revenue.

  4. Because the league gets enough league wide revenue to maintain itself with out having to grossly over advertise, that's why the Cap ceiling rises every year.

Also so the league doesn't start looking like this:

  5. In addition to ads in the neutral zone, having a 3.5 foot board circumvent the arena provides a more-than-adequate billboard for advertisements.  We don't need our home teams' pride and colors to be comprimised by sporting the ad-tattered jerseys that rob European leagues of any tradition that they may have had.

I stand for the Red and White Winged Wheel, not the Red, White, and Multicolor Display of Hot Deals and Low Prices.

  6. Because that would be tacky.

  7. Because they are not NASCAR.  It's about the sport, not the advertisers.

  8. Hockey is not soccer or nascar.

Goalie masks are an expression of the goalie's personality... not of corperate ownership.

Besides the sponsers already have the boards and some of the ice surface. To put ads on players would anger the fans and definately the players and prolly the NHLPA.  Its not a youth house league team.

  9. Soccer, Arena Football, Golf Caddies, already are walking billboards. I don't think the NHL needs to be one too. :/
