  1. Are you just dumb, or just playing the party card? There are dozens of reasons why he hasn't' or wouldn't? First of all , he's done it before as he's authorized it a few years ago. Second, the reserve is there for a specific purpose and it's not just a matter of saying open the tanks. Thirdly, opening up the reserves only changes the price very minimally and is completely temporary which changes the problem not at all. Get out of your political brainwashing and realize both parties are just as worthless as the other and think for yourself. Quit reading tabloids and find out the real part of an issue.

  2. Because, contrary to Paul K's answer above... The oil reserve is not used as a "pricing mechanism".  It is used in only the most dire circumstances.  It is held back in time of great need, specifically for our military if we ever go to War with another country.  I personally think we should double or triple the amount we store in reserve because of the rumors that Mexico's wells are drying up, Saudi Arabia has only 10-15 years of oil left, and India & China will soon be the largest 2 consumers of crude oil within the next 5 years.

  3. It is a STRATEGIC reserve, for use in time of catastrophic events. High gas prices while inconvenient are not catastrophic.

It is basically for use in the event of a major disruption of supply to keep goods and services moving across the country.

As for Republicans wanting high gas prices, who has fought against new refineries, drilling, and using the resources we have available? Oh that is right DEMOCRATS.

  4. bush is keepin the oil reserve 4 hes next war,if it runs out he probably attack another country 4 more

  5. beacuse its needed for later. prices are high now but they will get a lot higher in the future. plus it means the middle east cant manipulate us by using oil against us.
