  1. I think you have an issue with yourself !You seem honestly like an angry young man .

Puerto ricans recognize they have  a mix of cultures but you seem to be one of those angry black men who want people to forget other cultures they have in them and even if their mix just say black .

Why don't you accept that a person who is mix has more than one culture and they don't have to kick the other culture in the A&& .Anyways why do you think every black person 's ancestor is "african american "

Pride ?? Okay you want them to kick their other ancestory and shout I am african

  2. Well said Nena!! Have you ever asked your girlfriend this question? I am sure she would be happy to answer it.

  3. Because they are not.

    They are Puerto Ricans.

The US is the only country that defines itself as white, black or .., culturally obsessed with race and racism

the rest of the world defines itself as canadian, colombian, puerto rican, brazilian...

and if you say the majority of puerto ricans look like tego caleron you have never been to Puerto Rico at all

  4. Not only are Puerto Ricans a mixture of African, Spaniard and Taino, but also a bit of french and dutch according to history books.

Now if you want to go further, Tainos were a mixture that originated from south, central and north America also known as Arawak among other names.

I have travel to Puerto Rico extensively and have encounter many skin colors. Keep in mind that you also have a large population of Dominicans in the island. You also have many Jamaicans and other neighboring Caribbean islands visiting Puerto Rico to perform among other activities. The fact that what you saw, visually, does not prove anything unless you personally asked their nationality. In other words there is a difference between what you observe and facts.

Keep in mind that people identify them self however they want, even if you think you are right, they will disagree. People need to learn to agree to disagree.

In my opinion, whether you are black, Latino, Chinese or where ever you were born, it does not change the person that you are. You can be a martian for all I care and call yourself bozo the clown, but, in the end who am I to label you unless I am suffering from an identity crisis!

  5. Puerto Ricans are very proud of their heritage. They know they are mixed with black. But they are not only Mixed with black. They are also mixed with white(spanish) & Taino(indian). Puertoricans recognize all 3 of these cultures, including African. But in reality Taino is the largest % of the mix. The University of PR did a study & found that 62% of the DNA of the people they tested was taino. Puerto ricans are very proud of being mixed & they dont classify themselves by color. In PR everyone is puertorican, not white or black. There is very little racism there & people dont put themselves into racial groups like they do in the US.

These 3 people are all from Puerto Rico. Look at the difference in color:

Please tell me where in Puerto Rico did you go? Loiza maybe? Otherwise, I see puerto ricans of all colors. Black, white, mixed & indian. & there is nothing wrong w/ any of them. :)

  6. black is black

  7. What a strange question to ask!! The answer to that question my friend, is quite self-evident. That your girlfriend looks like any African-American to you kind of explains to me why you don't know the answer to your question.

On top of being mis-identified (Chinese don't like being called Japanese, and vice-versa) being erroneously identified as belonging to one of the most discriminated-against people has no benefits.
