Question:

Why don't Subway restaurants have drive thru windows?

I think they lose a lot of business to other fast food places that have drive thru windows. If you wanted fast food, are you more likely to go to one with a drive thru window?

  1. Some Subways have drive throughs.  There's a Subway in San Angelo, TX with a drive through.

  2. i would go with the ones that have drive thru windows

  3. Where I live there are over 5 Subways, and one of them is a drive through. Honestly, if you are getting a simple sandwich- it's a good idea. But if you are like me, and it's kinda' complicated- drive through is the LAST THING i want. I've gotten home and realized they messed it up... =(

Just think about how many times FF screws up our orders. I prefer to watch the subway employees make mine... they fix it to your liking. When I don't watch them make it I can't tell them "More lettuce, Less onions"  Etc...

  4. Cause then you couldn't watch them make your sub :P

  5. So you can catch them making your sandwich and are able to tell them what you want on it.

  6. Lazi arses.... Get out your car and walk up to the counter! Is it really that hard! OMFG

  7. too many toppings  you would be there all day thinking of what toppings to put on  if you can see them it is faster

  8. The reason most of them do not have drive-thrus is because you have to run a separate line for the drive-thru.  You have to have another oven, another vegetable bain and another whole crew just for that line.

  9. Some do.

  10. Why are we sooo lazy.

Maybe because they want a healthy image and a drive thru would not work so well.  Besides I only eat where I can see my food being prepared for me.

  11. there are too many combanations you can have it would get really confusing.

  12. I'm from Illinois... and our old subway building use to have a drive-thru window but the new one is in a plaza and now they dont.... oh and a town 5 min from here has one also... so they do exist!!!

  13. I think they don't have drive thru's because their whole concept is about "eating right" and losing weight and stuff. How would it look if Subways had a drive thru and at the same time promote weight loss? lazy!

  14. I think 'cause their windows went through the subways!!

  15. because they are to poor

  16. if they had a drive thru then you wouldnt be able to see them make your sandwich

  17. I do prefer drive thru!  In CT we have a few subways that DO have drive thru,,,,the first time I saw it I was psyched!!  State your opinion to the manager or even call the cust serv. 800 # ...who knows...maybe more will open!

  18. It's a huge myth that drive-thrus increase business. A drive-thru for a chain like Subway is generally not encouraged. It's a fast-casual place, food can't be made fast enough to make it efficient. The people that own the fast-casual place where I work at have a drive-thru, and we get plenty of complaints. When people come in, it's easier to process the ones that just have one item and get them out. With a drive-thru, each person has to get their order one at a time, which can make things more inconvenient.

There's another one of our chain down the interstate in another city, and it makes as much as ours, if not more without a drive-thru. Plus, you don't have to have a crew person glued to the register with another person glued to the one at the front. One person can ring while the others make the food. That saves money.

I hate drive-thrus. I personally wouldn't mind if fast food places got rid of them. The service would drastically get better in my opinion.

  19. we live in pensacola, fl and the subway here DOES have a drive through

  20. u cud drive ur car through the front window!  lol!  but no realy just go to cousins, they have a drive thru.   and they're meatball sub tastes like a sphagetti on a sub.  who doesn't want that?  nobody cool, i can tell u.

  21. There are 2 in our area of Michigan that have drive thru windows.  But to order a sub with exactly what you want on kind of makes drive through complicated.

  22. I've seen a few with drive-thru windows, actually.  But most of them don't have them.  I'd definatly be more inclined to use a fast food place with a window than one I have to walk in to.

  23. our Subway has a drive-thru.

  24. i think its because it would be too much hassle for the customer and employees to make one really quickly. because drive Thru's are meant to be fast and subway is fast already but any faster? i dont think so

  25. Hehe - a few years ago someone accidentally drove through the window of our local Subway . . . mistook drive and reverse.

Frankly I think it would slow down the way they make the subs.  A good shop can easily handle three orders at once, where a drive-thru would just be one person yelling their ingredients - if they can remember what they are without asking.
