Because a lot of people know it is BS, and they are sick of the Greenies and enviro-fascists coming up with one doom and gloom scenario after after.

How much disposable income would you have if your electric bill was 3000 dollars a month, and your gas bill was 2000 dollars a month, and your gasoline costs 45 dollars a gallon.

This will happen if they are allowed to tax carbon.

people will be stealing everything in sight to keep from freezing to death, trees will be cut down enmasse for firewood, and there will be revolution in the streets.

This is not happening now, because they are just in the fearmongering mode with global warming, to get you to sign up to this expensive energy.

But when it actually happens, all of you sheep will start crying and wonder why you are dirt poor over night.

I think it is a matter of people feeling like they can do nothing in a big way to stop it, so they choose to do nothing at all. Maybe they think some one will create a miracle and save the planet.

I don't really think it is as bad as people believe. I mean, a few decades ago they were saying there was global cooling, and the next ice age was around the corner. Look what happened with that. now the "globe is warming", and life is in danger. Its probably more like the planet has its cycles. I'm sure our polluting our own planet doesn't help, but odds are in another 10 years it will be some other crisis that will arise to grip us in fear.

Because it should be obvious that there is NOTHING a single individual can do that will make a bit of difference, none at all.  Since nothing you can do will matter, it is pointless to worry about it or to care.  I worry more about paying my bills on time every month.

On top of that, global warming means that by the time you are dead the average annual temperature where you live will have gone up by 1.5 degrees.  This is hardly a drop dead issue.

In high school I took math and science the major difference was science seemed to get closer to the truth-you could figure it out. Math is right or wrong. Science can get close and theories can be wrong-just look at the theory of gravity from when I was in high school. Now 9 different functions. Can I make a difference in our world! Yes. That is why I founded CoolingEarth.org, a geoengineering web sight. Today here is what we know:  many of mankind’s advancements cause earth surface to warm, destroy the ozone layer, kill off endanger species, heat cities, and in some way cause more destruction.  Blacktop (roads and parking lots), buildings, air pollution (causes lung and other diseases), deforestation, duststorms (which increase hurricanes and cyclones and cause lung diseases), fires (cause pollution, mud slides, and deforestation), refrigerants (like CFC's), solvents (including benzene destroy the ozone layer raising skin cancer rates) and plastics; cars, airplanes, ships and most electricity production (causes pollution including raised CO2 levels) are human problems we need to fix to keep life on earth sustainable! The federal government needs to adopt a pollution surcharge to balance the field and advance new technologies. We must pay the real price of oil (petrochemicals) including global warming, cleanup and for health effects. But with that we must understand we have never seen what is now happening before. CO2 has never lead to temperature change, but temperature change has led to increases in CO2. The models have to be made as we go along with little evidence! The result is:  change is on the way, we just do not know what changes. But again adding a small amount of CO2 to the atmosphere enlarges the earths sun collection causing warming; increase water in the atmosphere and they form clouds cooling earth but causing flooding. Even natural events are warming earth and causing destruction. The sun has an increased magnetic field causing increases in earthquakes (more destruction), volcanoes (wow, great destruction), and sun spots. Lighting produces ozone near the surface (raising air pollution levels). But humans have destroyed half of the wetlands, cut down nearly half of the rain forest, and advance on the earths grasslands while advancing desertification which increases duststorms. The USA Mayor's have taken a stand and I believe are on the right track, we can have control and can have economic growth. With the peak of oil in the 1970’s, the peak of ocean fishing in the 1980’s, humans must stop procrastinating and make real changes to keep earth sustainable including in the energy debate, finance and regulation. The sun is available to produce energy, bring light to buildings and makes most of human’s fresh water. Composting is the answer to desertification. New dams are the answer to fresh water storage, energy and cooling earth by evaporation, we need many small one all over (California needs 100 by 2012 and has not even started).

President Bush has made a choice of energy (ethanol) over food and feeding the starving people around the world; this is a choice China has rejected.

The more intelligent of us studied the histories of our planet, including that of extreme years of heat and cold, and noted in these statistics that contrary to what the activist groups keep saying our overall temperatures are not any worse than what we had experienced hundreds of years ago -- long before we had our technology which caused these problems. The only new thing that is at all an issue is the extra UV index coming through our atmosphere -- which is indeed new, but global warming in and of itself is a falsehood.
