Venus is earths sister planet and is very similar is 26million miles away and mars is 35million miles away. It would be a much shorter trip. Is the atmosphere too dangerous, or the suns radiation the major issue.

  1. Because it is too hot in Venus than Mars.

  2. The surface of Venus presents a far greater challenge to a manned mission than Mars. The dense atmosphere means atmospheric pressure on the surface is 92 times higher than on Earth - the equivalent of being 1km underwater here. The surface temperature is also extremely high - over 450 degrees C (842F). Coming up with a spacesuit that can resist being crushed and melted at those temperatures and pressures, and still maintain a comfortable environment inside for the astronauts is a tall order indeed. By comparison, Mars' atmosphere is very thin - only about 1% of the pressure on Earth - which is easily protected against by a spacesuit, and the surface temperature reaches a positively comfortable 20C (68F) at the height of the Martian summer. The pressure suits used today for spacewalks and the like would be quite capable of supporting astronauts on the surface of Mars.

  3. Not so much the sun's radiation due to the extremely dense atmosphere.  That is the problem.  On the surface of Venus it's like being at the bottom of an earth ocean-or something similar.  Plus the composition of the atmosphere contains very corrosive chemicals.  So, we'd have to send them in very very very expensive diver's hardsuits which limit mobility and make the suits of very very very expensive alloys.  All in all, it's cheaper to go to Mars.

  4. because mars is the hottest planet of all

  5. All I would like to say is that it is the hottest planet in the solar system and I'm pretty sure its the only one that rains sulphuric acid.

Mars might be a little further but its a lot let trouble.
