Why don't banks give receipts to people who pay money into their own accounts anymore?

I'm with Lloyds TSB as well and they said that if I want a receipt, I have to use my paying in book. Apparently they don't issue receipts to people who pay money into their own account. They will if it's someone else's account though. Strange...

  1. they do if you ask.......maybe they're helping to save the planet??

**edit** maybe it's to prevent money laundering and for data protection - if you don't possess the paying in book you could be anybody!  Even with it you could still be anybody but there's less of a chance!!

  2. mine does, im with halifax and lloyds tsb, i always get reciepts

  3. You should get a receipt.  What would you do if you lodged a cheque and the bank 'lost' it before it reached your account?  I used to work in a bank and this can happen.

  4. they do if you ask for one

  5. I work at a bank and they are suppose to give you a receipt unless it is not your account. If you do not get one then ask for it. You may need it at some point and not to have it will make for a bad situation, especially if you are trying to prove you made a deposit that is not showing up on your account.

  6. Mine does-------RSB
