Is it illegal to combine alcohol and gambling (I would have thought not given casino/drinking) or is it the case that the the combined licensing is too expensive for most?

  1. Blimey its bad enough having a load of gamblers in one place let alone a load of drunken gamblers.

  2. Here in australia all clubs sell alcohol and have gambling, however specific betting shops such as TAB's that have their own establishment don't sell alcohol for the same reason a newsagent or florist or shoe shop doesn't sell alcohol

  3. They don't have a licence to sell alcohol on their premises, this is why they don't sell alcohol.

  4. it is against the bookmakers license for alcohol to be consumed on the premises. Casinos have a different type of license so this is why.

  5. It will come one day. In the paramutuals ( Betting Shops ) in France you can buy alcoholic drinks.

  6. It would complicate things.

If someone gets very drunk and looses lots of money they could sue the betting shop for letting them carry on when they were too drunk to know what they where doing.

The casino's that sell alcohol have a license and probably have to have paperwork/forms/signs telling people that the casino isn't responsible for the amount of alcohol they drink and drink responsibly etc.

Anyway, I think they can chuck you out of the casino if you're very very drunk and/or being disruptive.
