  1. Do people get large muscled legs from running or arms from swimming?  No.  Next time you look at a chicken wing look where all the muscle is.  All at the point of attachment right.  Those are actually control muscles.  The power muscle for flying is the breast or chest muscle of a bird.

  2. They have large breast muscles. A bird has significantly more muscle percentage in their body than humans.

  3. Because it is not the muscles in the wing that make the wing flap, it is the muscles in the breast.   They do have huge b*****s muscles, and a sternum that is modified to accommodate.  This is called a keeled sternum or carnia.  Flying birds also have bony plates or flaps coming of the ribs to prevent the rib cage from collapsing when the huge b*****s muscles contract.  These flaps are called the Uncinate process.

This is why the breast is the largest chunk of chicken meat you can get at the grocery store.

  4. first of all, they don't fly constanley, some birds don't even fly. secondly, they don't have muscles in their wings.

  5. As I understand it, their large flying muscles are their breast muscles.  Their breast muscles are extra large to allow them the strength to fly.
