  1. Propane is very expensive as a fuel, but there are cars that run  on Natural Gas. Natural gas is cheap. Honda has one for $25K.

  2. They do. It is not normally cheaper, though. It requires installing a conversion kit and large tank somewhere. Then you must be in an area where filling it is available.

They have been in use for years.

  3. Why? So they can jack the cost into the statosphere on that too?

  4. Autos can be modified for Propane, however, the Modification is mostly used for Farm use, & requires untaxed fuel.

  5. Many many cars run on propane.

  6. they are vehicles that run on propane.

  7. Car makers can but don't build propane cars for a variety of reasons

The first is safety.. cars have to meet crash tests and propane as a compressed flammable gas is more dangerous than gasoline.

The second is demand.. propane is not available on every street corner like gasoline.. and it has safety issues while changing tanks, etc.

However, I do not think that propane gas is cheaper than gas..on a BTU basis.  Furthermore, if we stopped using gasoline where would we get the byproduct propane?

BTW as one other person said forklifts use propane in many industrial settings and that can be utilized in many internal combustion engines .. .
