  1. Legally they are supposed to.  Bicyclists are required to follow the laws of the road just like other motorists, and that includes stopping at stop signs and DEFINITELY at traffic lights.

The laws generally aren't enforced though, because just like everything else, cops can only do so much.  But I've seen bicyclists get tickets when they do it right in front of a cop!

If you're using the roadways, you are required to follow the rules of the road.

    ... if you get caught.

  2. They think they are Holy Cows.

  3. Maybe they have a death wish.

  4. Because they dont care and they have no respect for the rules of the road and even though they do have to follow the rules and yes they should get ticketed just like the rest of us.

  5. They're supposed to.  If you're riding a bike on the road you have to follow the same rules as cars, in most places that is.

  6. That really annoys me too. I'm the first to admit that car drivers don't give them the respect they deserve, but then one goes and does this right in front of me. Not stopping is dangerous. Here in S.F. I've seen several close calls brought on by those folks.

  7. Not only do I think they should, but the law says they should. Unfortunately, many police officers are so focused on vehicles, that they let bicycle riders get away with breaking the law.

What bothers me more than the average cyclist on the road, is the moron cyclist riding at VERY high speeds on the side walk, and then screaming "ON YOUR RIGHT!" just as they are zipping by you, expecting you to instantly know what's going on. Retards.

  8. cos they don't pay road tax or insurance but you can bet on it, i they got hit by a car doing somethng stupid they'd make a claim!!

  9. Most cyclists will stop at traffic lights. It's the foolish ones who don't obey the rules of the road that usually end up in the hospital.

  10. Idk. But it is law that they have to.

  11. Not only do I think so but so does the New Jersey State legislature. =]  In most, if not all, states, cyclist legally have to act as a vehicle at road signs such as stop signs, no turn on red signs, etc.  Definitely contact a town official if this persists where you live.

  12. It depends on the traffic.  If it's clear, I go.

  13. I don't know why cyclists do not stop at traffic lights, but it is annoying to see them ride through a red light. Maybe they want to get bounce or killed, because they are in a rush, that could be the answer. They should stop. Cyclists made such a big deal as to whether or not they should be allowed to ride on the road and it turns out that they have every right to as drivers of vehicles do, but that means they have to follow the rules and regulations of the road as well, but most don't.

  14. I don't know why they don't, they want to be treated the "Same" way as cars, then they break all the rules when they feel like it its okay with them. Way two-faced.

  15. They definitely should.....I believe it's in the bicycle "rules of the road"...pretty much the same traffic laws as cars/vehicles...
