Question:

Why don't environmentalist groups attack NASCAR and other racing?

I'm not suggesting they do - I'm just curious why they don't and claim that it's a waste of resources and no pollution control on the vehicles?

  1. Because they have nothing better to do...

  2. all the environmentalists reside here in CALI...wheres most of the racing done??...THE SOUTH...so over here, they complain about cutting trees and global warming...

Most of them are so ignorant that they probably never heard of NASCAR....they're so focused on the poor trees (berkeley)...they tried to ride bikes in a busy street, and one of them got ran over....They tried to protest Gas prices..blah blah...heres the video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ShlQ2tUV...

  3. Because they know that the rednecks will kick their limp wrist liberal little behinds.

  4. I will get Pam Anderson on it right away.

  5. I guess if the environmentalist thought there was a problem with it they would have already been protesting. What a race weekend produces of carbon monoxide(and other things) is a mear drop in the bucket to what the cities in the US put out in a day. Besides that, Nascar is good for the soul.

  6. Oh they do. They are here at least once a week saying how NASCAR is a waste of gas and bad for the environment etc...Now if they would only do some research before coming here and proving how ignorant they are.

Actually...they are closet NASCAR fans trying to cover that fact up by protesting in YA.   But hey...no need to hide behind a dumb question is what I say, come out and join the fun!!!

  7. GIVE THEM TIME AND THEY WILL.

  8. lol Because it would be stupid. More pollution comes from the fans traveling to the event. So then they would have to attack every kind of sporting event.

  9. they have thats why nascar had to change the fuel a few years ago

  10. Who says they don't?  The occassionally do, but it is pointless.  The impact of NASCAR on our precious resources is far less than the impact of the almighty $$$$$$$$$$ generated at each racing event.  It is a necessary boost in the economy of the area where each event is held as well.

There is always someone who comes in here and tries to stir the pot with it.

    Go Jr.>>>>

  11. Because if NASCAR were to be banned it wouldn't make a difference. It contributes to VERY LITTLE of the world's pollution. At least you didn't just target NASCAR like all those other losers.

  12. they do but nascar wont do anything because those people want nascar to go to hybrids and stuff but i got something to tell you

do you know how they make electricity if you dont right now it is from coal and if we go hybrid the something will happen with coal and electricity prices will go way up and that is why i will never buy/rent/borrow/lease/drive or anything else like that cause i need power and those fruit cake cars dont got much power even if you put ten of those engines together so now they quit cause they now nascar wont do it

  13. Before they could make a poimt on NASCAR they have to attack high polution spots like Mc Donalds drive ins, throw away electronics, ect.

Trying attack NASCAR as a polution source would like be trying to take a leak into the wind during a huricane

  14. THEY DO!  I just fought one off yesterday and a couple the other week.  Where have you been daddy long legs?

They have stopped attacking us because they NOW Realize the ROOT of the problem is the GOVERNMENT------ NOT NASCAR!

They are also not the brightest bulbs in the box. But we here on the NASCAR forum always set them straight.

  15. Most never heard of NASCAR. Even if some group did, no NASCAR fan would do anything except laugh at them.

  16. Because they realized that the bus that takes them from track to track pollutes more in the ride than the whole race.

Let em hug trees, stay outta my race.

  17. Racing doesn't contribute to any noticeable amount of pollution.  People cause more pollution sitting in lines getting fast food every day.

If you ban racing then you need to ban all spectator attractions.  More people watching means more people driving to get there.  That doesn't sound like a very interesting world for anyone.

  18. Please don't jinx it. I don't like hearing them whine. I'm all for the environment, but I try to find a compromise between man and nature.

  19. Because They Are Really Bored

  20. Waste of resources: Many people say that racing wastes a lot of fuel, but in reality, NASCAR uses about 300,000 gallons a year, which is pretty much nothing compared to how much is used every year.  So if you got rid of all racing, that wouldn't be much of difference.

No pollution control: Well, things are improving anyways, NASCAR has made the switch to unleaded fuel, and in the future may follow IndyCar to ethanol, so they're working on it.  And I highly doubt banning racing would make a difference in pollution, because there's 43 cars in a NASCAR race, and theres tons of cars in the world.

  21. 2 vastly different constituencies. Environmentalists can come to races all they want, but they will be made fun of or ignored. Environmentalists who are vocal protesters use tactics that might intimidate yuppies, but race fans figure they can get their toddlers and their grandmothers to kick the protestors' butts.

  22. for the ammount of jobs and money nascar generates for the economy it is well worth the small ammount of fuel they do use.

  23. I would really like to see a protest at a NASCAR race. I bet it wouldn't last 2 minutes before the beer cans came flying, from fans of ALL drivers!

*I didn't say all fans, some people don't drink, lol!

Ok I just had to say that part first! But seriously, I think because of the stereotype of NASCAR fans they are too afraid to come near us. Maybe this is the one good thing that our redneck reputation does for us.
