Question:

Why don't fast food resturaunts bake their fries/burger patties instead of frying them?

It would probably help people eat healthier even if they're eating unhealthy food. It wouldn't make fast food "slow" either because I always see a bunch of fries just soaking in oil in a deep fryer, meaning they'd have extra fries from the oven too. Is it part of the taste or crisp or something of the food they make? ???

  1. Because is Fast Food, it takes longer to bake than to fry.. plus they spend less money on the frying.. i've worked in McDonald's, Panda Express, KFC and Del Taco.. they don't change the frying oil for weeks.. they add more..

So they don't spend that much money on oil..

at least, less than they would spend on gas/electricity if the baked them..

Plus, people today don't like baked stuff, unless is some type of bread (cake, muffins).. they like the good stuff that's bad for them..!

  2. To me foods taste better if they're fried. I think that they don't bake the food because lots of fast food resturaunts are from when people didn't really care about trans fat like we do today like McDonalds although they are trying to do better. It's just what they did first. I doubt it but it could be cheaper to fry instead of bake. Don't quote me on that, I don't believe that myself. It's just what they did first. They could sell the oil now as gas or an alternative fuel, I saw it on ABC World News a few days ago. But they probably don't want to lose some of their customers by baking all of their food.

  3. they don't fry theburgers, they grill them.  you can't really have a good fry without deep frying it.  have you ever baked fries at home?  could you imagine doing that for hundreds of people every day?  face it, baking takes longer.

  4. IT TAKES LONGER TO BAKEM AND EVERY BODYS IN A HURRY. ITS DIFF TASTE IN THE OVEN ..TEXTURE ISNT THERE I GUESS

  5. I would say the time ot takes to cook them.

  6. It would cost a lot to replace the equipment and retrain their employees to use the machines too. If you think about all of the McDonald's employees and equipment they have everywhere, it would be unfeasible to replace and retrain them all, especially when millions of people are more than willing to buy what you're already selling. They would also lose customers if the taste changed or if they had to raise the prices to pay for new equipment and training. And who knows... Jaded customers might refuse to go there because "that's not how you're supposed to make a burger"

  7. Disgusting right? yea it takes longer and won't taste as good as fryed. You have to remember not a lot of people like to eat healthy, they like all that greasy junk.

  8. I'm pretty sure that baking them would take longer than frying them.

  9. Well, to put my explanation in a sentence:

It's fast food, so it's gotta be fast.
