  1. oh i am an avid fisher, what happens is that they go down to the bottom, and their whole system slows way down, that is why you can just pull them up with the line while fishing, in the summer you need a stronger rod because they are more active and fight, but cold makes them easy to pull cause they are unable to fight due to the way their system is almost in hybernation, turtles bury themselves into the bottom of the lake and actually do hybernate

  2. As we all shoulld know the fact that the Colder uper layer of the water is the warmer its lower layer is & viseversa

This is the reason why fish dint freez when we are about to freez.

  3. maybe they already realize that the winter going to come... and their would run to another lakes or pond... :)

  4. the answer is that lakes and ponds has filter so the oxygen will be inside as well so the fish would not freeze

  5. The lakes are not Frozen only the top is.

  6. Fish, being cold-blooded, maintain body temperatures equal to that of the water surrounding them.   Blood plasma of most fish freeze at around -0.6°C to -0.8°C (30.9°F to 30.6°F).   Some marine fish, depending on where you are that is, have antifreeze in their veins.

The Arctic sculpin, for instance, manufactures an antifreeze protein in its blood named, appropriately enough, glycoprotein. This depresses the freezing temperature of its plasma sufficiently to permit it to live in the winter Arctic waters without turning into the block of ice you'd expect to find in your freezer.

Interestingly, the plasma of sculpin in more temperate climates, such as Newfoundland, contains the antifreeze protein only during the winter months, while their cousins in the Beaufort Sea manufacture it all year 'round.

  7. I guess you didn't know that lots of fish, birds, and warm blooded mammals live quite well in freezing temperatures, google: Arctic Circle and Antartica, you will learn about lots of animals that do quite well in snow and ice

  8. 1) the water under the ice doesn't freeze.

    2) Fish blood has it's own "antifreeze"

  9. fish have a body temperature that depends on water temperature, so they do not die when the water gets cold, many fish species become dormant and die when put in water that are colder than 4 deg. Celsius, but some fish species have a substance in their system that prevents them from freezing, Much like anti freeze that is added to the water system of cars.
