Why don't grocery stores sell watermelons WITH seeds anymore?

Seems to me seedless melons aren't as good as the meIons with seeds we had as kids. I remember them being much sweeter and the texture much nicer. I always ate the seeds too - they're probably loaded with additional nutritional value.

  1. they dont want us to grow our water melon !

    i amm mad!

  2. What? I always end up with seeded ones when I don't want them!!! I think they're a pain to eat!!!

  3. I believe it's because once seedless watermelons were developed, they gradually became more and more popular until it was perceived (rightly or wrongly) that this is what the pubic prefers. Somehow, there's an idea out there people don't like seeds. With most produce, supermarkets sell a limited numer of varieties, farms grow a limited number, and those varieties become the norm and all that's available. I've been looking for watermelons with seeds this summer and so far haven't had any luck. I have read that the flavor is much better.

  4. people think it is a hassle to spit out the seed every 5 second or pick em out
