Question:

Why don't hairless rats do well on the grey paper pellets?

I had a handful of hairless rats from one pet store that all ended up dying.

I changed stores and went to a lady that owned the store but also bred rats on a small scale. She told me that while I couldn't control if they died or not, being on those paper pellets didn't help.

Since, I've moved on to Carefresh and Soft-sorbent and my hairless has done fine, and none of them have become deathly ill.

Any ideas? Thanks. :)

  1. Since they're hairless, they need better burrowing stuff to keep warm. Also, their skin can be sensitive to anything but Carefresh  or that type of bedding.  They probably got allergic to it and couldn't burrow and be warm so they died.

  2. idk???

  3. I'm not really sure if the bedding had to do with anything????  I have never had a hairless rats but I did some research and they are a lot more sensitive!!

    Hope that helps
