  1. They don't? Now that I think about it, I guess it's true. The reason is probably because if your a jock you're more likely to go more for the American dream, if you get what I mean. Like in all the movies based on true stories, what sports are they? Football, baseball, basketball, but no tennis. It's probably because it isn't much of a team sport.

  2. Nascar?  How the h**l is nascar a testosterone sport?  All you do is drive around in a loop going fast.

    *Taken from Jeff Dunham*

You know the sport Nascar?  I don't see how a lot of people are excited about it.  All you see are goes making left turns.  Whoa, hes making a left turn!!  OMG, hes making another left turn!!  I wonder what else he's gonna do??

Nascar, along with golf and baseball, are one of the worst sports to watch.

Tennis, football, and basketball, on the other hand, are exciting sports that get your adrenaline going.

  3. because tennis in the u.s.a. is not a popular sport. In the U.S. sports like football, basketball, and baseball are the most watched and popular sports. Plus tennis was created in europe i think in france so they like tennis better there because that's where its origin is. While sports like football, basketball, and baseball were created in the U.S.

  4. Like soccer it has never been as popular here as the rest of the world.

Not speaking for myself because I happen to like tennis, but it probably isn't macho enough, Americans like testosterone driven sports like the NFL and NASCAR, don't get me wrong I like them both but here in the land of the free it's hard to compete pro football.

  5. i have no clue :[

    wish they would though

i definitely love tennis forsure though

  6. cuz its all bout football and basketball in the US

  7. theres baseball, basketball and football for them to worry about

  8. Americans tend to prefer team sports for the most part.

Boys in the US usually start learning sports in school. The schools can only budget so many sports, and they have always favored the team sports.Even a small school will have a gym for basketball, and a field for football.

Of course many schools do have tennis courts but it's not as popular. How many kids can you get on a court at one time to play? It's easier to get a bunch of kids to play basketball in the gym.

I think America has always liked to emphasize teamwork in sports, and in society as well.

When tennis started in the US in the late 1800's,it was played by the upper classes in the east.It was seen as a garden party sport.Gentlemen, and ladies in elaborate outfits patting the ball over the net.

Eventually it did become more democratic.A number of the stars of the twenties came from the public tennis courts of california.

But tennis was still seen as a country club sport.I don't think it really started shaking that reputation until the 1970's.

It's really been viewed as a sport of the privileged class.

There are public courts in most cities. The court time may not cost a great deal, but private lessons will.Group lessons may be affordable. But the private lessons may be more than most families can pay.

And then there are rackets, and stringing.

I suspect that tennis would cost more than just having a kid play team sports at school.

Tennis is more popular for girls in the US.But I wonder if it isn't slipping.

How many great prospects on the women's pro tour are from the US?

    Anybody?

And there is always the primary fact about tennis,it's just not easy to play well. You have to be a very fine athlete to master the sport.
