Why don't men get raped?

You hear all about these women getting raped, but not men. Why is that? Why do women get raped and men don't? Is it because we're weaker and can't fight?

Sexual arousal is an automatic response.  Even if a man doesn't want to have s*x with a woman, she can still make him physically aroused.  He could be in fear for his life and his body would still respond to sexual stimulus.  (The same thing happens when men rape women.)  If a woman has a weapon and demands s*x, it is entirely possible for her to rape a man.

Rape of men by women also occurs if the man is asleep and the woman has s*x with him without his consent.  

Men almost never report being raped by a woman, usually because they don't think anyone will believe them, and also because it's a confusing experience in a world which seems to teach that men are supposed to want s*x all the time.

They do-but men don't like to report it to authorities; and the media doesn't like to admit it happens anymore than they like admitting women get raped. Rape is not exactly a popular topic in society-and with all the taboo about male homosexuality in American society-the implication is that a man must not be a real man if he's raped-when rape is about violence-not sexual orientation or s*x.

Men get raped. Boys get raped too. Usually, they are raped by other men. The stigma is strong against male victims of rape because of widespread homophobia and machismo, that most of these rapes never get reported. The thing is that rape is equally emotionally devastating for both men and women.

They do - it's just not what we're socialized to think about in terms of rape.  If a man is forced against his will to engage in s*x or be penetrated, that's rape.  Just because men are physically stronger (most of the time) doesn't mean a man can't be subdued, drugged, etc.

the fact that you say "we" almost eliminates men from anwering this question; when in fact it its directed at us.

Now don't fool yourself about men getting raped, of course men get raped, its just the way that people are trained to look at s*x, we as men often don't even realize when its happening.

There are other factors too. For example, it is  usually such a task for a man to get s*x out of a woman, that if a woman actually forces herself onto you, you feel too flattered to say no.

Also, because men ARE physically stronger, people, such as you- tend to think men cannot be raped.

Then there is also the logistics of the act of s*x itself. Its easy to picture a man "forcing into" a woman. But hard to think of a woman forcing herself "onto" the man.

But it does happen.

Actually, most rapes occur between men (men on men, although I don't think any females tend to rape men...) That's what I heard in class anyways.

Men do get raped, especially in prison. However, I think the reason you don't hear about it is because the men in prison who get raped at an alarming rate are "guilty," and therefore "deserve" their situations.
