Why don't more chicanos recognize Mexica?

Question

I have been doing a lot of research about the history of 'Mexican' people or people of 'Mexican' descent and found that we are Mexica (me-shee-ca) before Mexican or Aztec. There is a lot of pride to take in our Native American or indegenious origin. (google Mexica Movement) Why don't more Mexica recognize our origin?

Chicano.lol...Still makes me laugh when I hear that. Mexicans think Texas belongs to them, thats the only thing there focused on recognizing.

Hey... I'm from Australia so I know jack about your history or culture.. but if your ancient indiginous ancestors were located on the planet in a place now called Mexico... and they called their culture "Mexica" then what's up with saying you are a "Mexican" ... maybe I'm missing something.... sorry for being ignorant... just wanna learn a little sommat.

black american is stupid because mexican and aztec is the same thing. the word aztec means "from aztlan". the aztecs called them selves mechicas but the spaniards put an x instead of an ch because they didn't have a ch in their alphabet so in spanish we are called mexicanos and in english mexicans. Mexica is nahuatl. so aztec and mexican is the same thing

That is a great question. I am proud of you for wanting to know your roots. I think a lot of people do not know. I did not know this was the correct term to use. I thank you for that. All people should be proud of their roots.

Its funny how Mexicans wanna idenify with anything other than Mexico...YOU ARE MEXICAN!!! Not native, aztec, but MEXICAN!
