Probably because so many of them are flea ridden and full of disease plus, unless you were raised in the country or down south where hunting squirrels is a major past time, many people are just turned off of the idea of eating the little varmints.

My husband said he tried to clean one once and the more he cleaned the more it looked like a rat............He threw it away and never hunted for squirrel again.
