  1. People are busy and don't have time. Plus after a long day at work who wants to tend to plants when they can go on Y!A? Lol, jokes.

I would love to grow my own food but I can barely keep my self alive =D. I did grow 9 different types of herbs last year though and that turned out quite well!

  2. Because many are too lazy.

  3. don't have time, land. Too much work.

    =]

  4. I don't know,  I grow my own veggies and Fruits. I think either there to lazy or just don't have enough time.

  5. Because the world has gotten so fast paced that people don't have the time that it takes to keep a garden. Growing up we had a big garden and there was a lot of work involved. If I had my own place, I would take the time to do it though. I enjoy doing this kind of stuff.

  6. becuae i have four dogs and dont even want to think about what they would do to all those veggies. Lets just say i dont want my tomatoes drenched in  pee and f***s ewww!

  7. I live in a one-room apartment with no balcony.  Where am I supposed to grow food.  I might be able to set up a window box in my kitchen, but that's iffy.

  8. I am trying to grow some tomatoes on my patio, but no luck yet.  I have a tiny patio, so that limits me a little bit.

  9. it a good idea, it just that most people (me included) are too busy, dont have enough land, and really dont know much about gardening.

  10. I live in a city and have no green space.  I live in an apartment and I can't have window boxes because I don't get long direct sunlight.  I would love to grow my own food though.  The next best thing is a CSA that's pretty close, but I have to wait til next season til I can buy part of their crops because all their orders are completely filled.

  11. because they don't have the land or time.

  12. most peopel dont' have the land... or the time.

i dont' have the land. i don't have a balcony.  and growing one herb plant under a light in my office will not really help me.

when i have land i would absolutely love to grow my own food!

  13. Makes you realize how much you should appreciate the farmland we have, doesn't it?

I've never seen houses torn down to put in beans.

  14. I concur that not everybody has the space to grow their own food. I am lucky enough that I can have a small pot garden in which I can grow my fresh herbs, but there are many people who do not have that luxury. Besides one can always go to the local farmer's market to support the local family farms (the farmer will tell you exactly what has been done to the crop and field that year). I feel that supporting the small family run farms is much better than growing my own large crops (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers) as it helps prevent the land from being taken over for development or by a large agricultural business.

  15. Because most people don't have the land.

Come on man, I know growing your own food is great and all, but not everyone has a back yard. And using pots to grow food isn't very practical other than herbs or small veggies.

Most people in the world in live in metropolitan, urban areas. And even most suburban people live in developments and town-homes with little land available for growing food.

    So, there's your answer.
