Why don't more women listen to metal music ?

I mean all genres of it too. Alot of the top 40 & hip-hop c**p is just talentless junk. I'm looking for a women that appreciates good metal music.

i love it- mostly thrash like slayer and municipal waste. as a teen i was more into hardcore but now metal just edges it. i dont dress 'metal' and im not butch either. yet some people are grossed out by the fact i like it so i just keep it to myself mostly.

I am a female and I listen to Metal.  Where do you get that Females don't listen to Metal?  Anarchy ring a bell?  How are Third and the immortal?  I have been listening to heavy Metal for 31 years.

I think womens' ears are attuned to hear different sounds like children whimpering or old people falling and sounds like these sound like danger on all fronts...it stresses me out and gives me a headache. After awhile, it would desensitize me to taking care of others.  For men, it probably keeps them immune to the awful sounds of battle so they can concentrate while in it...my guess.

I am a woman who listens to basically nothing but metal, and I have for well over 20 years.  However, I grew up with an older brother and spent my early childhood listening to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and later Iron Maiden and Judas Priest; so faster and heavier music is what I was exposed to more than any other form of music.  As I got older, I developed my own interests.  These days I listen to predominately thrash, speed and death metal; and some NWOBHM for old times sake. ;)  There are many female metal fans in the community.

Why don't more? let's see... well, I know 47 bands with female growlers...

Ever heard of Valhalla? All female DEATH metal band (though not that famous). Or Kittie?(just metal)

how 'bout Otep? She scares me more than any man ever will. Her songs, like "kisses and Keresone" or "house of secrets" or "home grown"? *shivers*

Or Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy? Or That girl from Orphan Hate? or Jessica from Voltera? Or the band Nocturnal? Or that band Kayzen? VERY deep women growling there...

Or Black metal? Astarte, Cadaveria, Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult? Dracena?

Or the joke named bands, like iwrestledabearonce or f**k the Facts?

so see, there are enough women that like metal. Just go to a hardcore metal concert and find a girl there. If shes at the concert, then perhaps she likes the music.

Being a female metalhead and having finally given up on dragging any of my male OR female friends to shows, here's a list of why most women just don't get metal AND why they don't go to shows (aka: the reasons no one will go with me)

1) Basic Exposure.  Metal isn't aimed at women.  How many women actually smile when they hear that a song is called "Fucked with a knife"

2) They do not like / understand what there is to like about harsh vocals

3) They get scared in the pit (one of my female friends, who does like to listen to some metal, came in with me at one point and deemed herself a "safety first" metal fan... I didn't get it either)

4) Face it, aggression is not typically a female thing, and metal is aggressive.  It's dumb, but it's true.

5) This is going to sound tacky, but many women prefer to go to things in large groups.  When I've seen other women at shows, it is usually because they have come with a group of 6+ people, most male.  That doesn't make them any less of fans, but how often do you, as a man, go to a show with 5+ other people.

6) They are threatened by the average metalhead... wouldn't you be if you were 5'4" and up against a 6'+ guy?

okay i tottaly disagree w u  i listen to all types of music but us ladies and guys have r own opioun so stop complaining in stop worring about metal music find a girl thats fasanating and no iam not talking about metal music
