Question:

Why don't mormons believe in global warming?

Most of my mormon friends don't believe in global warming due to a religious belief of theirs, but choose not to discuss it. What's their defense in not believing that global warming is something that could/is actually happening?

  1. Lots of people don't believe in global warming.  Most who do are uneducated and need to examine real science that says it isn't happening.

  2. It's not something there is much point in discussing.  People who believe in significant man made global warming tend to take in on faith that there is scientific proof somewhere and they can get anoyed at people who say there isn't.

  3. That's the easiest question on earth: they already have a G-d, one whose years extend long beyond 4.5 billion.

  4. Many Christians do not embrace science, they often believe in Adam and Eve and disdain all evidence to the contrary.  Most Christians believe all they need to know is in the New Testament.  Mormons have yet another book to tell them all the truth they need to know, so they have little reason to read about scientific evidence.  It is very difficult to be a person who embraces the scientific process and yet believes the teachings of the Bible and Book of Mormon.

  5. Actually, I'm LDS and am sure that global warming is happening, but just not for all the reasons they're saying. Another thing I DON'T believe about it is the aftereffects that we'll get for it. The world isn't going to end from global warming. It is hardly destructive. After all, the supposed ice age didn't kill mankind. It hardly had any effect at all. Also, we are definately NOT the ones to blame for global warming. I;m pretty sure a volcano is going to have a lot more carbon emissions than any SUV. I also suspect that FREAKING LARGE BALL OF FIRE KNOWN AS THE SUN!!! Any kind of warming will cause ice to melt!! It's natural! NATURAL!!!!!!!

  6. Because their leaders tell them so.

  7. They are intelligent and know a pack of lies when they hear them .

  8. why dont you go meet some mormons messionary and discuss with theme im sure you will be enlighted.

  9. Because Mit Romney said it wasn't real, and he is like god

  10. Its says in the bible he who adds to the word adds to his suffering and he who takes away takes away from his treasures in heaven of course the bible has not correctly been translated into hebrew or english or greek or latin from its original text so who is to say that all mormons believe this I think it is a personal decision to believe what we hear and read and see

  11. The ones who are scientists do know it's proven fact.

  12. In all my years as a church-attending Mormon, I've never heard anything mentioned about global warming.  There is no "religious belief" within Mormonism that has to do with global warming.  However, most Mormons tend to be politically conservative, and most conservatives do not believe in global warming.  It's more of a hyped-up dramatization that the liberals embrace.  As a matter of fact, the most recent trends in global temperatures seem to exhibit cooling rather than warming, and the hottest temperatures on record in various states of the U.S. were recorded about 100 years ago, long before "man-made" causes of global warming could have had any effect.

  13. I still dont get how people belive in global warming its a proven thing, but there is nothing in the gospel of the mormon church that says we dont belive in global warming it could be a family choice

  14. Mormons believe there is a God that will save us from ourselves. Intelligent people know better.

  15. i know people don't believe it so i made a blog

    nobody believes or care

  16. Some do, some don't.  I am sure that Senators Reid and Hatch have different opinions.   I have not heard any church position on this subject

  17. they are narrow-minded people. they'll see.

  18. because they stick to exactly what the religion tell them to believe and they are too hard headed to look around at the evidence that is everywhere.

  19. Mormons are well educated.  You on the other hand appear to fall for such scams.

You should learn something from your neighbors.

  20. most religious people are stupid.

  21. Mormons tend to be well educated.

Like any other intelligent person, they are waiting for hard scientific facts that man causes climate change.

Anyone who claims that there is hard scientific proof is lying.
