Question:

Why don't mosquitoes bite me?

Even when I'm out by the pond, I never get mosquito bites. My family and friends get eaten alive, but I haven't gotten one bite this year. Why is that? There's no way I'm complaining about it, but I find it odd. I like it.

And if anyone is wondering, I do shower, I don't use repellent, and I don't have any diseases or dry skin.

  1. I have always heard that mosquito's main attraction is due to carbon dioxide. Here is some info from a link....

Only female mosquitoes bite. They are attracted by

+ several things, including heat (infrared light), light, perspiration,

+ body odor, lactic acid and carbon dioxide.

    +

    + Dark Clothing

+ Many mosquitoes use vision to locate hosts from a distance. Dark

+ clothes and foliage are initial attractants.

    +

    +

    + Carbon Dioxide

+ You give off more carbon dioxide when you are hot or have been

+ exercising. A burning candle or other fire is another source of carbon

    + dioxide.

    +

    +

    + Lactic Acid

+ You release more lactic acid when you have been exercising or after

+ eating certain foods (e.g., salty foods, high-potassium foods).

    +

    +

    + Floral or Fruity Fragrances

+ In addition to perfumes, hair products, and scented sunscreens, watch

+ for the subtle floral fragrance from fabric softeners and dryer sheets.

    +

    +

    + Skin Temperature

+ The exact temperature depends on the type of mosquito. Many mosquitoes

+ are attracted to the slightly cooler temperatures of the extremities.

    +

    +

    + Moisture

+ Mosquitoes are attracted by perspiration because of the chemicals it

+ contains and also because it increases the humidity around your body.

+ Even small amounts of water (e.g., moist plants or mud puddles) will

+ draw mosquitoes. Standing water also allows mosquitoes to reproduce.

  2. Drink a beer.  They eat me alive.

  3. They don't think you will taste good.

  4. "The female mosquitoes locate their next blood donor victims primarily through scent. They are extremely sensitive to the carbon dioxide in exhaled breath, as well as to substances found in sweat and various body odours such as 1-octen-3-ol. They are believed to be able to track potential prey for tens of meters. Some people attract more mosquitoes than others, apparently based on how they "smell" to a mosquito. Mosquitoes can also detect heat, so they can find warm-blooded mammals and birds very easily once they get close enough."

  5. Some of my frenz said that they bite u if u have sweet blood.but idk if that's the truth..
