  1. After one hits a dropshot their natural move is to move forward into the court : they expect the ball to come back as a high floating ball (the opponent is hopefully scrambling to get to the ball before it double bounces and needs to hit a high defensive floater to clear the net). By moving forward they have an easy winning volley into the open court...If you are a pro you know that :)...if you counter the drop shot with a drop shot (as your opponent is moving forward), likelyhood is that they can be on the ball and still have an easy next shot. If you go deep however, you send the ball back in the back of the court while your opponent is running towards the service line, and you have a winner...

  2. many pros are strong or hard hitters these days..

  3. Most pros these days are power hitters, and hitting a dropshot as you described requires a lot of touch.

  4. It's an instinct among pros to run forward after hitting a drop shot. Countering it with a drop shot means giving the ball to your opponent who is already at the net

  5. I disagree with with the previous 2 answers pros have plenty of touch however most professional players when they hit a drop shot follow it into the net this means that it would be useless to hit a dropshot back as they are already at the net
