Why don't most small engines have gas filters?

None of my small engines have gas filters except for my dirt bike and chainsaw.

  1. They should, add one if they have a 1/4 inch line.


  2. Every gas engine should have a filter. some , for different reasons do not have them. The more quality put into the building of the equipment it is designed to operate the better filtration you'll find.

          Very small engines may have the filter/strainer built into the tank.

  3. Because they do not have that high of pressure gas lines. They work on the vacuum created in the venture of the carburetor and gravity is enough to keep most of the debris out of the jets.

    That is why lawn mowers need the tank taken off and cleaned out every couple of years (to get the sediment out).

  4. I can't think of one car that doesn't have a fuel filter: big engine  or small.  

  5. I try and find a way to install a low restriction filter anytime i can. But i think the answer is the short distance and pressure required to deliver the fuel.
