Why don't my cats eat while I'm gone during the day? ?

Question

I feed both cats in the morning, my male cat is very vocal about getting his food. When i get home in the afternoon the dishes are both full and yet the male cat is still meowing for more...then they both eat it all..confused?

its in their gens. they know not to eat until the leader comes and gives them the thumbs up. in their world, your the leader. and when you don't go to the dish, they know its all right to eat!!!

Haha, you should take it as a compliment. They miss you when you leave, and possibly get a bit depressed. My cat does it all the time, as soon as I get home, she greets me, then heads straight to the food dish and eats.

They may be upset that you are gone and feel more comfortable when you are home.  You are their security and they can relax enough to eat when you return.  You should feel special:)
