Why don't my computer speakers work?

Question

My computer speakers randomly stopped working a few days ago. I didn't touch anything! The light is ion on them and they are plugged into my computer. However, when I checked my control panel it said "no audio devices" and so it won't let me change the volume. I've tried unhooking and re hooking the speakers and I've also tried headphones but neither worked. Please help me ! thanks.

Yes this happened to me and i tried for many days to fix it and no results. I just ended up buying a new computer

Yes ,Soundfre... is right,you have to reinstall the sound drivers for the sound card!!!
