Question:

Why don't my subtitles display when playing a DVD in Windows Media Player 11?

I've been using WMP for a while and everything seems great, however I haven't been watching DVD's on it for a while.

Now that I've started, the subtitles on any DVD don't appear when watched. I've tried going to the menus, to 'Lyrics, Captions and Subtitles' and looking at the options there, but nothing shows.

I've been through to Options and in Security, I had also selected "Show local captions when present".

There is also another thing that causes me to wonder. The selection icons that circulate the words to indicate what section of the DVD you want to access at the menu don't show either. So I have to guess my way through to click the "Play Movie" section.

I've tried to access subtitles through other media programs such as Total Video Player, and that seems to work perfectly. The icons even appear.

So somebody please tell me how to make subtitles appear in WMP. I haven't had many problems with the program in the past, and I don't to experience more problems in the future.

  1. Hey Hoa.

Try uninstalling it and re-installing it again. If that doesn't work try calling technical from Microsoft.
